4th Of July Fireworks Craft

Today we began to prepare for the 4th of July by making a fireworks craft.  Max had a great time with this.  It is super messy, which we love!  You can also use this technique if you are doing a lesson on music (it is almost like strumming a guitar) or teaching about Jackson Pollock (it resembles his work).

Construction Paper

Shoe Box

Rubber Bands

Washable Paint

Red and Blue Streamers

Star Pattern

Spoon or Q-tip

Fourth of July Craft

– Cut slits in the sides of the shoe box, almost to the bottom (about 5 on each side, depending on size of the box)

Fourth of July Craft 2

-Run the rubber bands through the slits (either wrap them around the entire box or use the slits to hold them in place).  You can place them like we did or try to put some on an angle for a different effect!

-Pick colors for the fireworks and with spoon or q-tip drip on the paper anywhere you want

-Pull the rubber bands up and let go!  Watch the paint fly!

Fourth of July Craft 4

Try different color construction paper!

-Use glitter as an added decoration

-Glue red, white, and blue stars on it

-Attach streamers to the bottom

Fourth of July Craft 5

My son worked on this for 45 minutes! He had a blast!
